Repetition is your friend when you are learning a new skill. Especially in voice work when you are being asked to experiment with new & potentially weird sounds in your voice. Today’s practice has you repeat several of the exercises you have tried so far within new & review concepts. Enjoy!
Warm-up: Alphabet speaking
Use a neutral register of your voice w/circle lip ‘oo’ inhale
Mode 1 w/circle lip ‘oo’ inhale
Mode 2 w/circle lip ‘oo’ inhale
Combined mode 1 & 2 w/circle lip ‘oo’ inhale

Start in mode 2 & navigate to mode 1 for OH/EH/h’A’t
Aspirate & balanced onset work

Think vertical, rich & spacious soft palate lifted sound

Think horizontal, whiny & bright upper lip smile sound
Yeah | 54321- speak & sing in all modes
Ask yourself: “What am I feeling?”
Watch yourself sing this exercise & ask yourself: “What am I doing?”
For myself, I notice that I feel a vertical soft palate lift with a horizontal upper lip spread to achieve a bright & rich vocal timbre.
